In the spirit of global community-building, Miriam College Child Study Center has built a solid partnership with Dasom Kindergarten which is based in Gian-dong, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.
Since 2010, teachers from the Child Study Center and Dasom Kindergarten have visited each other's schools with the goal of having a professional collaboration, sharing of best early childhood education practices, and a genuine appreciation of each other’s cultural heritage.
Dinna Valera, Janice Perez, Gen Goño, Jas Guzman, Kim Reyes, and Bettina Luciano of the Child Study Center have all shared their expertise in early childhood education during their visit in Dasom Kindergarten, Korea through the professional sharing of child-centered activities that are staples at the Child Study Center -- meaningful learning activities that also include traditional Filipino games, art, music, and dance.
Teachers from Dasom Kindegarten have also visited the Child Study Center together with their school director, Mr. Key In Nam, who has fondly declared himself as an honorary Filipino because of his genuine love for the Philippines. Teachers from Dasom have done a cooking demonstration of kimpap, a Korean version of Japanese maki), and a demonstration of how to paint a traditional Korean mask.
Teachers from Dasom Kindergarten were also able to witness the Child Study Center’s celebration of Araw ng Wika which they thoroughly enjoyed as they were delighted with all the colorful and festive activities during the day. Our Korean visitors were also given a taste of our warm Filipino hospitality as they were able to take in the beauty of the places around the city which included a San Miguel-Malacañan Palace Walk Tour.
The partnership between the Child Study Center and Dasom Kindergarten is a solid one as both schools have mutual values and a clear vision for early childhood education that is truly child-centered.
