High School

Miriam College High School (MCHS) is a sanctuary of exploratory learning for young women. It offers a college-preparatory program that features the interaction of the STEM (Science, technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, arts and humanities, social sciences, and business and trades. While engaging learners into rigorous but fun-filled curricular activities, the school also puts a strong emphasis on spiritual formation, social action, and citizenship education. Through this holistic framework, young women are trained to become empowered leaders in service who also excel in the areas of giftedness such as foreign languages, athletics, technology and performing arts.

Our Academic Programs

We offer eight subject areas, namely, English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Technology and Home Economics (THE), Filipino, Araling Panlipunan, Physical Education, Health, and Music, and Christian Life Education in lieu of Values Education. Citizens’ Awareness Training (CAT) and Social Action are integrated as special advocacy programs in the curriculum. These are further paired off or clustered in order to form adjunct areas that share common topics and competencies. These adjunct areas make concepts, skills, and tasks more comprehensible and life-like.

Christian Life Education

The Christian Life Education Area of MCHS aims to form young Filipino Catholic women who, as true daughters of Miriam of Nazareth and nourished by the Sacraments and constant dialogue with God, are hearers and doers of the Word in the classrooms, in the community, and in the world. At the heart of the Christian Life Area’s mission is the conviction to make the Gospel simple, attractive, and relevant.

Social Studies / Araling Panlipunan

The Social Studies academic program consists of teaching-learning activities that equip young Catholic Filipino women with the knowledge and skills needed to bring about positive and meaningful changes in our national, Asian, and global communities and instill in their minds and hearts the noble and edifying values of truth, peace, justice, and integrity of creation.

Guided by the vision of forming young Catholic Filipino women to communicate effectively in English as they search for their personal identity, take pride in their cultural heritage, and respond critically to current local and global issues, the English program adopts the principles of integrated language work woven in a thematic language and literature learning environment. The program covers such themes as self, family, peer, nation, and the world, thus making the resulting lessons truly life-like, student-centered, and values-infused.

The Mathematics Area provides an environment where students learn both cooperatively and independently; think logically and analytically; communicate mathematical ideas coherently and precisely; and recognize and apply mathematics in context outside of this area. Provisions are made both for students who need closed supervision and assistance and also for students who need further enrichment to develop their mathematical abilities and appreciation for the subject.

The Science Area seeks to form young women with a critical mind and a global perspective based on a passion for scientific inquiry by providing investigatory projects, laboratory activities, educational field trips, computer-aided instruction, and environmental awareness activities.

Technology and Home Economics (THE)

As a life-skill-based learning program, THE is geared towards the full development of instrumental, interpersonal, and organizational competence, it provides students opportunities to enhance their creativity, self-mastery, and self-nurturance through artistic expressions and nutrition awareness needed to perform their academic tasks, prepare them for tertiary education and enable them to participate actively in the home and their community.

Physical Education, Health, Music, and Citizens’ Awareness Training (PEHM-CAT)

The PEHM-CAT area aims to provide a holistic program that will develop young Filipino women who are physically, mentally, socially, emotionally, and spiritually well; develop practices that will lead to a healthy lifestyle; and equip the girls with skills that will enable them to be disciplined, creative, participative, and morally upright citizens of the nation.
