Child Development

Child Development and Education

This program aims to provide a holistic program for students who wish to pursue a career in early education, specifically in the formation of pre-school and grade school students. It offers a broad spectrum of childhood education courses which provide the necessary knowledge, attitude, and skills in educating children. Field experiences provide students with opportunities to demonstrate their teaching competencies under guided supervision and to make connections between theory and practice.

CDE students imbibe the qualities of a child specialist and develop their artistic capabilities in the form of art, music, theater and multi-media productions and other forms that may be considered as the best and most appropriate channels for values education.

Major in Special Education

Child Development and Education Minor in Special Education

CDE students are trained to imbibe the qualities of a child specialist and develop their arti sti c capabiliti es in the form of art, music, theater and multimedia productions and other forms that may be considered as the best and most appropriate channels for values education. They are also prepared to be of service to children with special needs. They are ultimately expected to play a major role in society as agents of change and development.

Minor in Social Work

Child Development and Education Minor in Social Work

This is a holistic program for students who wish to pursue a career in early education and teaching out-of-school youths, handicapped and special children, specifically in the pre-school and elementary levels as well as young adults .  Students will be equipped with the knowledge of childhood growth and development to prepare young children to cope with learning within and beyond the classroom setting and helping them become productive members of their home, school and community. 

Certificate in Professional Teaching


The Certificate in Professional Teaching is designed to meet the educational requirements of professionals entering a teaching career. The certificate course, which also prepares students for the Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET) offers 18 – 21 units of education subjects.

Certificate in Special Education Program

The Certificate in Special Education Program is designed to train college graduates who enroll in the program, for special education practice. The program seeks to develop these paraprofessionals (e.g., special education tutors and shadow teachers) and to equip them with the necessary competencies, attitudes, and values to effectively support students with a diverse range of special needs in various educational placements, across the lifespan.  It also aims to prepare these Special Education paraprofessionals to become agents of positive change as they assist and empower learners with special needs to become self-directed learners, while using validated practices supported by research in the field.

MA Education Major in Childhood Education

CURRICULUM A: FOR TEACHERS

CURRICULUM B: FOR ADMINISTRATORS

The childhood education program is designed to meet the needs of professionals in the field of Early Childhood Education who wish to further enhance their knowledge and skills. The program offers two curricula: Curriculum A for teachers and Curriculum B for administrators.

Curriculum A consists of a guided sequence of courses and field experiences conceived to immerse students progressively in this area of work and knowledge. It is designed to enrich teachers already in the field who desire professional advancement and personal development. It also serves as a preparation for teaching higher-level subjects. Curriculum B consists of courses designed to prepare individuals to exercise leadership in the strategic planning and administration of an educational institution for basic education.

M.Ed. Major in Childhood Education (Non-Thesis)


The Master in Education major in Childhood Education, non‑thesis track, offers focused study to strengthen and broaden the professional preparation of teachers who work with young children. It aims to provide students with extensive field opportunities which demonstrate how knowledge can be used in practical applications. The program targets professionals who seek a graduate degree to enhance their competence in teaching or who seek career advancement in their professional practice.

MA in Education Major in Instructional Management


This program is intended for master teachers, administrators and other educational personnel who may be groomed for middle and high level positions as educational or instructional managers.

This master’s degree program combines the study of research design, statistical methods, testing and assessment, and evaluation. The program is designed to prepare students for research and academic careers in education, social sciences, and human services.

Center for Educational Measurement - Miriam College Scholarship

All successful applicants will receive full scholarship which provides tuition, basic, and miscellaneous fees for the entire duration of the program. The scholarship will not cover other costs such as instructional materials and living and travel expenses.

The Master of Arts in Education major in Special Education (MAE-SPED) Program is designed to develop special education professionals with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of special education theory and practice. The program is designed to help professionals in the exploration of human values which contribute to the development of a fully integrated person. MA in Education Major in Religious Education


The program aims to: A. train teachers and coordinators of Religious Education (Christian Living Education) programs to integrate biblical, theological, and liturgical studies with practical religious education; B. to respond to the needs to culturally diverse communities in the delivery of religious education programs; C. to incorporate the principles of sound pedagogy and the human science into religious education ministries.

Master in Guidance Counseling


Non-Thesis Track

The Master in Guidance and Counseling Program has as its primary purpose the preparation of counselors who will be eligible for professional licensure. The curriculum is designed to provide
students with the necessary theory and skills for working with individuals, couples, and families in a variety of counseling settings.

PhD in Counseling

This program seeks to attract students who hold a master's degree in counseling or a related field but have completed the 18 counseling units required for licensure by the Guidance Bill. The course is designed to prepare highly knowledgeable, competent, and ethical researchers, educators, and practitioners for leadership and expert service that enhances human well-being and advances the counseling profession.


The program allows students to pursue one of three areas of concentration: school counseling, family counseling, and personnel counseling.
