Center for Peace Education
The Center’s mission is to help advance a culture of peace through education. A culture of peace is a set of values, modes of behavior and ways of life that reflects respect for life and for human dignity, rejects violence in all its forms, prevents violent conflicts by tackling their root causes, and recognizes the importance of cooperation, tolerance and dialogue.
Environmental Studies Institute
The Environmental Studies Institute (ESI) is a pioneer in academic offerings as well as in school-based advocay. Its program is a synthesis of academic expertise, field projects, and service learning. As it implements the third thrust in the school's motto, Peace, Justice, and Integrity of Creation, the ESI catalyzes the Mriam Community in spreading to the larger society what it promotes in its campus-care for the Earth.
Institutional Network for Action
The Institutional Network for Social Action (INSA) is Miriam College’s center for volunteerism and social development. INSA’s role is to intensify volunteerism that is expertise-based and that is contributing to social development. INSA acts a “broker-mediator” in bringing the expertise and services of Miriam College to poor communities and marginalized groups, while at the same time making these as opportunities for students, teachers and staff to learn meaningfully in the process.
Women and Gender Institute
The Women and Gender Institute is Miriam College’s center for research, training and advocacy on women’s rights, gender equality and non-sexist learning in support of the leadership of young women and students. It offers a cross-disciplinal perspective on women’s empowerment that is interlinked with democracy, human rights, social justice and value formation. WAGÎ forges links with other sectors, organizations and institutions at the national, regional and international levels.
