Last February 5-6, 2017, Miriam College High School, in partnership with the World Scholar’s Cup, hosted the second World Scholar’s Cup Manila Round.  With a total of 19 schools participating in the Junior and Senior divisions, 108 teams of three composed of 322 scholars competed to qualify for the Global Rounds in Hanoi, Athens, and Cape Town.
 
In the course of the two-day competition, Miriam College High School emerged triumphant in both the Junior and Senior Divisions. Three teams in the Junior Division and 17 teams in the Senior Division garnered silver and gold medals in four categories: Scholar’s Bowl, Scholar’s Challenge, Collaborative Writing, and Team Debate. With a total of 42 teams and 126 participants in the Junior Division, and 66 teams and 198 participants in the Senior Division, Miriam College High School landed on the Top 10% of each category of the competition. 
 
The Manila Round 2017 is one of the biggest Regional Rounds in World Scholar’s Cup this year. Participating schools include Assumption College San Lorenzo, Ateneo De Manila Junior High School, Ateneo De Manila Senior High School, Chinese International School Manila, Colegio de Santa Philomena, De La Salle Santiago Zobel School, Filipino Turkish Tolerance International School of Zamboanga, Immaculate Concepcion Academy, King’s School Manila, La Salle Greenhills, Lourdes School of Mandaluyong, Miriam College High School, Miriam College Middle School, Miriam College Nuvali, OB Montessori Center, Philippine Christian School of Tomorrow, Philippine Science High School, Victory Christian International School, and Xavier School. 
 
The Hanoi Global Round will be held on June 26-July 1, 2017, the Athens Global Round on July 18-23, 2017, and the Cape Town Global Round on August 11-15, 2017. This year marks the 10th year anniversary of the World Scholar’s Cup.
