About the International Programs Office
The International Programs Office (IPO) of
Miriam College is the institutional office to
specifically address challenges and
opportunities advanced by the
internationalisation and globalisation of
education. As such, it coordinates institutional
international academic initiatives and
activities and acts as the focal point for
strategically situating Miriam College in the
international education scene. The IPO also
serves as the campus base foreign students and
guests.
Key Functions and Services
A. Conceptualize, Negotiate, Implement and
Monitor International Linkages
1. Actively seeks out strategic partnership with
foreign schools on the basis
of reciprocity and mutual benefits.
2. Maintains communication with partner schools
in the planning, implementation and monitoring
of partnership agreements.
3. Links relevant MC unit, department and center
in the initial exploration of possible
international projects.
4. Represents MC in various strategic gatherings
of foreign embassies and donor agencies.
B. Provide Administrative Support for
International Activities/Programs
1. Coordinates the participation of MC
students/faculty in international activities and
exchanges.
2. Assists MC units, departments and centers in
the planning, implementation and evaluation of
international activities/programs within MC.
3. Disseminates information on scholarships,
exchanges, conference participation to MC
community.

4. Updates the MC community of international program activities and outcomes.
5. Assists in the foreign travel requirements of MC faculty, students and personnel.
C. Manage International Guests/Visitors Desk
1. Provides information on visa application and
other visa processing and travel concerns of
international guests/visitors.
2. Provides information on relevant government
agencies that are in charge of visa processing
and travel concerns of international
guests/visitors such as Department of Foreign
Affairs (DFA), Bureau of Immigration (BI) and
Department of Justice (DOJ). Upon request of
international guests/visitors, may also act as a
liaison of to these government agencies.
3. Assists in the arrival and departure of
foreign guests/visitors.
4. Orients foreign guests on various aspects of
Philippine society and culture, on Miriam
College and on the various advocacies of the
community. This includes:
Orientation of national situation of the
country particularly that which concerns
personal well-being and security.
Orientation on cultural/historical sites in
the Philippines.
Orientation on MC school policies.
Arrangement with accredited MC travel agencies
for local tours.
Campus tours and visits to advocacy areas of
MC
5. Through relevant academic unit/department of
MC, arrange for lectures, meetings and
interactions of visiting scholars/professors
within and outside MC.
6. Assists foreign students on short-term or
semestral/year-long exchange program to adjust
to the MC environment by:
Arranging for short-term and long-term
lodging/accommodation.
Coordinating their enrolment with MC unit
concerned.
Providing them with academic advisement
Facilitating the dispatch of their final
grades to their home institution through the
Registrars Office
Linking them with the other external links of
MC in the Philippines on matters pertaining to
field or academic research in connection with
their exchange program.
Linking them with appropriate student
organizations/buddies for their extra-curricular
activities.
Providing a counselor for their personal
well-being
7. Provides a working space/lounge for all
foreign guests/visitors on short-term and
long-term visits. This space can also be used as
a study area and a place where foreign guests
can do internet-based research/work and emails.
8. Assigns an International Programs Faculty
Associate (IPFA) as a person to accompany
foreign guests in off-campus trips.
9. Arranges for welcome and send-off receptions
for foreign guests/visitors.
