Ph.D. IN CHILD AND FAMILY PSYCHOLOGY

The Doctorate Program in Child and Family Psychology seeks to develop highly trained professionals with a strong scientific and multidisciplinary perspective in the field of child development and family studies. Designed to develop an in-depth understanding of the family system, the courses are focused on the dynamics of relationships in the family and the impact of various agencies and systems on the individual and the family. Likewise, the program prepares professionals in the area of family life education, research, family advocacy, and administration of human service agencies.

The program has two curricula to accommodate students' different academic backgrounds. Candidates with Masters degrees in Preschool/Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Family Life, Guidance & Counseling, Social Work or related disciplines take Curriculum A. Curriculum A requires 12 units of basic courses, 24 units of major courses, 12 units of electives, and a 12 unit dissertation.

Candidates without masters degrees in disciplines related to Child and Family Studies are offered Curriculum B, which requires them to take an additional 6 units of basic courses and 9 units of major courses.

Ph.D. IN ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

This program answers the need for innovative educators who integrate environmental knowledge, values, and skills with advances in pedagogy. The program provides students with a holistic, interdisciplinary, and integrative understanding of the interaction of human systems with the natural environment.

   

Ph.D. IN ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

This program aims to meet the need for high-caliber researchers and problem-solvers in the public and private sectors. It provides students with higher levels of knowledge, understanding, analysis and synthesis of environmental problems of today and of the future.  

MASTER OF ARTS IN EDUCATION major in CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
Curriculum A: for Teachers
Curriculum B: for Administrators

The Childhood Education program is designed to meet the needs of professionals in the field of Early Childhood Education who wish to further enhance their knowledge and skills. The program offers two curricula: Curriculum A for teachers and Curriculum B for administrators.

Curriculum A consists of a guided sequence of courses and field experiences conceived to immerse students progressively in this area of work and knowledge. It is designed to enrich teachers already in the field who desire professional advancement and personal development. It also serves as a preparation for teaching higher-level subjects.

Curriculum B consists of courses designed to prepare individuals to exercise leadership in the strategic planning and administration of an educational institution for basic education.

Both curricula require 10 units of basic courses, 15 units of major courses and 6 units of electives.

MASTER OF ARTS IN EDUCATION major in INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT

This program is intended for master teachers, administrators and other educational personnel who may be groomed for middle and high level positions as educational or instructional managers.

major in MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION

The emphasis on assessment and evaluation, both for research and development purposes has created a need for middle and upper level personnel who have capabilities to undertake studies involving testing and measurement. While difficulties with statistics as tool of research have partly been solved by the availability of computer software on statistical techniques, the fact remains that personnel should develop special skills in interpreting and drawing meanings from computer outputs. This is an aspect where most researchers have inadequate skills.

This master's degree program specially addresses that need and aims to fill gaps in the application of statistics to measurement and evaluation.

MASTER OF ARTS IN EDUCATION major in SPECIAL EDUCATION

This program is designed to develop Special Education teachers who have the competencies to meet the educational needs of students with varying exceptionalities. It also aims to enhance expertise and knowledge based on current theory and best practices in special education.

major in VALUES EDUCATION and DEVELOPMENT

The program is designed to help professionals in the exploration of human values which contribute to the development of a fully-integrated person. Utilizing a philosophical, psychological and social framework, the program aims to develop skills in values clarification and development in the teaching-learning situation, whether in formal or community-based settings.

MASTER OF ARTS IN FAMILY PSYCHOLOGY

The program is designed for those who desire to be professionals in counseling, teaching, training, and advocacy involving the family. The program utilizes interdisciplinary and holistic perspectives in the study of the family in its global and Philippine settings. The program provides opportunities for the acquisition of knowledge, values and skills essential to empowering the family life professional in his or her efforts to enhance the development and well-being of the family.

MASTER OF ARTS IN HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

The Master of Arts in Human Resource Development is designed to equip the individuals with skills and competencies to become fully-functioning Human Resource persons in their professional endeavors. It seeks to prepare them to become effective agents for social transformation.

MASTER OF ARTS IN ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

The program aims to increase the corps of environmental managers. It provides students with a comprehensive knowledge of the principles of Environmental Science and Management, preparing them to become leaders in solving in environmental problems of the 21st century.

MASTER OF ARTS IN INTERNATIONAL STUDIES

The program serves as a venue to further deepen the understanding of young scholars of the growing complexities of various issues and dynamics that are emerging in this new age of globalization. Thus, the goal of the whole course is to produce graduates who are facilitators for social change in a globalized world.

Track A: With Thesis; 37 units

MASTER OF ARTS IN MIGRATION STUDIES

Migration Studies is an interdisciplinary graduate program focusing on the study and research of the root causes, consequences, socio -economic, political and cultural issues arising from the migration phenomenon. Emphasis will be given to gender dimensions of migration and their social impact on women, families, and communities. The program is open to all graduate level students, nongovernmental organization (NGO) workers, and local and national government officials and staff.

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

This program provides students with a holistic perspective of viewing the environment. It includes core courses on the natural ecosystems and the impacts of human activities on the environment. The curriculum is synthesized by a course on Environmental Impact Assessment that develops skills in determining both the qualitative and quantitative effects of projects and programs on the various aspects of the environment.

MASTER IN GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING
(Non-Thesis Program)

The Master in Guidance and Counseling Program has as its primary purpose the preparation of counselors who will be eligible for professional licensure. The curriculum is designed to provide students with the necessary theory and skills for working with individuals, couples, and families in a variety of counseling settings.

CERTIFICATE IN PROFESSIONAL TEACHING

The Certificate in Professional Teaching is designed to meet the educational requirements of professionals entering a teaching career. The certificate course, which also prepares students for the Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET), offers 21 units of education subjects.
