The Marian Auditorium Improvement Project

Making the world a better place is our life’s work at Miriam (formerly Maryknoll) College. For over 76 years, we have molded many generations of students in the tradition of academic excellence and service to God, the community and nation.

Our graduates are instilled with the school core values of truth, justice, peace and the integrity of creation as they set out to carve a future for themselves. As an alumnus, you personify these traditions and values.

And because you are an alumnus, we are asking for your help.

Last school year, we launched a fund raising campaign to establish an Endowment Fund for Student Scholarships and Faculty Development, and the Improvement of our Marian Auditorium.

The seventeen million pesos that you have contributed so far allowed the creation of four new endowed scholarships for talented but underprivileged young women. This amount also provided support for the advanced studies of two additional faculty members.

However, it is not yet enough to even begin the refurbishing of our well-loved but equally well-worn Marian Auditorium. There is still so much further to go towards our 75 million-peso goal.

Support the future... Give to education.

You will agree that we cannot emphasize enough the immense value a good education can bring in improving the lives of underprivileged young women. You can play a major part in developing the future of our country by helping exceptional young women gain access to a Miriam College education through your support of scholarships.

Our faculty must possess the necessary competencies for effective teaching. They must be knowledgeable in their fields and of the latest teaching methods. Hence, your support is needed for tuition subsidies, thesis or dissertation grants, participation fees for seminars and workshops, or de-loading to complete advanced degrees.

The school should constantly improve its libraries, equipment and facilities to complement the teaching - learning process.

The Marian Auditorium serves as a symbol of the holistic education that you received from your alma mater. It has served you well as the venue for many activities that enhanced your understanding of the political and social issues of the times, as well as the various cultural presentations in which you participated. Most alumni Homecoming programs are held in the Auditorium.

The Marian Auditorium will turn 50 years old in 2004, and needs your support to maintain its place of honor in the hearts of all alumni and present students.

While some alumni classes continue to work towards establishing their own Endowed Scholarships and Professorial Chairs, we offer you an exciting opportunity to help promote excellence in the classroom, and leave a legacy in your alma mater for future generations, through your participation in the new SEAT Program.

We invite you to donate the amount of Fifty Thousand Pesos (Php 50,000) to “sponsor” one, (or more) of the 1,050 Marian Auditorium seats, within the next 12 months. Your Php 50,000 contribution to the Endowment Fund will generate enough interest income to support:

  • the tuition and fees of more scholars in perpetuity

  • thesis or dissertation grants for more faculty members completing advanced degrees

  • and help improve the Marian Auditorium in time for its 50th Anniversary in 2004.

 Sponsor a seat now!

Each SEAT that you sponsor can do so much towards the achievement of many dreams— a scholar’s dream of a brighter future... a teacher’s dream to serve and live out a vocation, and a budding artist’s dream to perform on a grand stage.
