Alumna Menchu Genato-Henson urges HEU grads to work hard and stay grounded in MC values

Former San Miguel Executive and PR guru Carmencita “Menchu” Genato-Henson (HS 70, COL 74) offered practical advice to this year’s College Class of 2019 as they begin their careers after graduation. Popularly known as “Tita Maggi”, Menchu was the brand icon of Maggi noodles, which was one of the longest running advertising campaigns in the industry.

The Alumni Engagement Office and the Maryknoll/Miriam College Alumni Association finished the final leg of their joint “Welcome, Alumni!” activity which introduced freshly minted MC college graduates into the vibrant world of alumni Knollers.

Nine members of the 2019 class, all Sanggunian members, were inducted as class representatives. Over 700 graduates were then sworn in as members of the Maryknoll/Miriam College Alumni Association. The induction was led by MMCAA President Carla Villanueva-Yaptinchay (GS 89, HS 93) and supported by Hannah Nuestro and Angel Tacsiat of the MMCAA office.

One of the highlights of the day’s program was a talk by Menchu Genato-Henson to help prepare the graduates as the school sends them off to the world of work. Menchu, gave the seniors words of encouragement and guidance drawn from years of experience in Marketing and Public Relations, as well as her developmental work with women and the marginalized in Muntinlupa as President of the Zonta Club. She reminded the ladies that in whatever career path they choose, they should always remain grounded in the values instilled in them by their alma mater.

The HEU graduation will be on May 25 at the High School Covered Courts.
