MC alumna Rebie Ramoso is the only Filipino featured in the Italian Atlas of Contemporary Art in 2020

Rebie Ramoso (GS 1990, HS 1994) is one of only two Asians and the only Filipino who was featured in the  "Atlante Dell' Arte Contemporanea 2020," Italy’s atlas of contemporary art. The atlas features 800 artists from all over the world.

The Atlas was launched at the MAXXI Foundation in the National Museum in Rome on June 5, 2020. In a Facebook post, Rebie shares, “This is a strong reminder of who I really am and what I want to share with the world.”

Art critic and Artistic Director Dr. Rosi Raneri said the following of Rebie’s work: “The strength of the artistic research of young artist, Rebie, is that she dwells in capturing the emotion and psychology of experiences, allowing us to understand the motivations of the women in her paintings; such that we are moved to visually read their thoughts.” The honor of being included in the Atlas was reported in both GMA News and Good News Pilipinas (see links below).

Rebie is a visual artist and digital painter. As described in her personal website, Rebie’s work “confronts social and anthropological issues like identity and poverty, from a psychological perspective.  With a formal training in Painting and Psychology, she is not afraid to venture deep into the psycho-emotional realm of human experience.”

After graduating as valedictorian from Miriam High School, Rebie finished her undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Psychology from Ateneo de Manila University. She honed her talent in painting from the University of the Philippines. Rebie also taught various art subjects in Miriam College, including Drawing, Design, Language, Theater and Dance. Today, she continues to exhibit her work overseas, being featured along with other contemporary artists all over the world.

Aside from being a digital artist, Rebie is also a social entrepreneur. She is the Chief Product Designer and Founding Partner of product design company Quarkus, a product design studio that also provides training and livelihood opportunities for underprivileged communities. Rebie is also an LGBTQI rights activist who co-founded human rights organization Galang and LGBTQI fashion brand Radar Pridewear.  She is also an active MC alumna and is the batch representative of HS 1994.

Congratulations Rebie, and thank you for sharing your amazing talent with the world!
