Milestones
In 1954, then Maryknoll President Miriam Thomas
Thornton granted Ms. Gregoria Cayco permission to
teach piano at the school which was then still located
along Pennsylvania St. (now Leon Guinto) in Manila.
Almost 50 years later, Miriam College Center for
Applied Music as it is called now is still as dedicated
to the pursuit of musical excellence as it was then
by introducing more programs and courses that support
this vision. Workshops have been given by eminent
pedagogues both of local and international fame
as well as performances by brilliant artists! In
2000, the Metro Manila Community Orchestra under
Musical Director Josefino “Chino” Toledo and Artistic
Director Alfonso “Coke” Bolipata found its home
at the Miriam College making it even more an environment
rich in art and culture.
At present, we are the only school affiliated with
the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music
in London, a prestigious program where promotional
exams are held every year in all parts of the world
and where students earn an international diploma
from Levels 1 - 8.

Vision
Miriam College Music Center is the premier school for the performing arts and for music education.
Miriam College Music Center is committed to discovering, recognizing and developing the God given gift of music and ultimately valuing and sharing such gift.
Miriam College Music Center is dedicated to the Spirit that inspires man to discover beauty in his world, in his life, in his mind and to translating this into music.

Mission
Miriam College Music Center instills in its students
a lifelong appreciation for the arts. It offers
programs for the development of their God-given
talents in the arts. It contributes to the development
of the whole human person by refining the affective
faculties and effecting discipline.
