Programs

Volunteer Service Program
INSA orchestrates volunteer efforts and steers outreach initiatives of various groups and individuals within Miriam College toward meaningful community service and advocacy work.

Volunteer Groups

  • Miriam Volunteer Mission (MVM)
    open to all Miriam College graduates who are willing to work as full-time volunteers from 6 months to 1 year
  • Miriam Volunteer Mission-International (MVM-I)
    open to all qualified Miriam College employees and graduates who are willing to work abroad as full-time volunteers for at least 6 months
  • MVM Catechetical Mission Group
    open to all Miriam College students and employees who are willing to serve as volunteer catechists in public schools or in urban poor communities
  • Youth Action for Social Justice
    open to all Miriam College students who are willing to support INSA in its advocacy for Social Justice
  • Gurong Lingkod
    open to all qualified Miriam College employees who are willing to serve as volunteers during summer or weekends in the area/s of community development or educational outreach

Community Development Program
INSA organizes and builds the capabilities of local leaders and youth towards community mobilization for development.

The components of this program are:

  • Leadership Formation
  • Day Care Center Development
  • Community-based Health
  • Livelihood Skills Development and Support
  • Community Theater Arts
  • Educational Aid  
   



Social Justice Advocacy Program

INSA promotes the value of social justice through various interventions. At the same time, INSA builds awareness among students, teachers and staff on global and national issues affecting social justice and facilitates their individual or collective responses.

Service-Learning Program

INSA, through the Service-Learning Program, involves students in organized community service that addresses community needs, while at the same time, develops their academic skills, sense of social responsibility and commitment to the community.


Services

Aside from the services that are already integrated in its programs, INSA provides the Miriam College community with the following services:

A. assists in the community outreach activities of the different units;
B. serves as clearing house for “request for assistance” from non-governmental organizations and people’s organizations;
C. facilitates the selection of beneficiaries and coordinates the distribution of the proceeds from the “Las Posadas Gift to the Child Jesus” and the Institutional Christmas Package Drive;
D. assists the Human Resources Office in its Institutional Scholarship Program through home visitation;
E. orchestrates the disaster response initiatives of the different units.
