2010 SUMMER COURSES

Miriam College-Women and Gender Institute (WAGI) is pleased to share with you its upcoming summer courses:

GENDER FAIR EDUCATION (April 12 to 16, 2010): An intensive one-week course that will provide development workers specially in the field of formal and non-formal education (i.e. teachers, administrators, module writers, trainers) with the framework of gender and development as well as teaching and learning situations that can enrich and enhance programs on gender equality and education for all.

Course Fee

Local Participants:  Php 6,500 for on-site registration
                            Php 6,000 for payment made on or before March 15, 2010

International Participants: US$350 for on-site registration
                          US$ 300 for payment made on or before March 15, 2010
(The fee includes materials, lunch and snacks)

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S HUMAN RIGHTS (April 19 to 24, 2010): Now on its 12th year, this is the first academic-based women's human rights course offered in the Philippines. It examines the use of international human rights instruments from both gender and Asian perspectives in analyzing complex issues of discrimination, inequality and oppression brought about by the intersecting factors of class, gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, and others.

Course Fee

Local Participants: Php 7,500 for on-site registration
                           Php 7,000 for payment made on or before March 30, 2010

International Participants: US$400 for on-site registration
                        US$ 350 for payment made on or before March 30, 2010
(The fee includes materials, exposures or study visits, lunch and snacks)

 

   

SUMMER INSTITUTE ON MIGRATION (April 26 to May 1, 2010): Provides a critical overview of the migration processes, dynamics, issues and challenges. Topics include migration, globalization and development, gender analysis of migration, migration health and HIV/AIDS, governance and management of migration; migrant advocacy and migrant reintegration, etc.

Course Fee

Local Participants: Php 7,500 for on-site registration
                           Php 7,000 for payment made on or before April 15, 2010

International Participants: US$400 for on-site registration
                        US$ 350 for payment made on or before April 15, 2010

(The fee includes materials, exposures or study visits, lunch and snacks)

 

The courses are open to public servants, NGO workers, educators , professionals, activists, community workers, and graduate students.
