Center for Strategic Research

The Center for Strategic Research is an institutional coordinating center for strategic research and innovation activities in Miriam College. It develops and implements programs and projects to foster research scholarship and genuine intellectual inquiry across the different academic units. It aims to strengthen the research culture among the members of the Miriam College community to expand the frontiers of knowledge for improved teaching and learning and academic quality management.

WHY "STRATEGIC RESEARCH"?
  1. Research initiatives should be aligned with MC’s strategic direction.
  2. Doing the right research at the right moment with the right resources.
  3. Research is not a support but a main resource to achieve institutional development.
  4. Research is at the core of human development.
  5. Research is a new idea translated into action.

Programs / Missions / Services

  1. Research Management – coordination and implementation of the Institutional Research Grants Program and other institutional research related activities like:
    • President’s Awards on Research;
    • Institutional Research Planning Workshop;
    • Institutional Research Colloquium;
    • Internal and external commissioned research.
       
  2. Research Training, Advocacy and Publications - coordination and implementation of research capability-building training seminars as well as colloquium and production of research publications.
     
  3. Research Partnerships & Intellectual Property - coordination and implementation of programs on research linkages and partnerships, and intellectual property.

Publications

LEAPS

LEAPS is a refereed journal published annually by the Center. This journal features the research outputs and academic articles of members of the Miriam College community. Scholarly papers and articles written by other authors that are consistent with the four core values of Miriam College (truth, justice, peace, and integrity of creation) are also included.

Bukad

Bukad is a literary folio published annually by the Center. The folio features literary works in different genre written by the members of the Miriam College community.

Affiliation and Linkages

The Center for Strategic Research is a member of the Philippine Social Sciences Council (PSSC). Its executive director is also an associate member of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NCRP).
