Miriam College, in partnership with the GSIS Museo ng Sining, presented GAWA: Featured Works from the MC Gallery of Women’s Art. The exhibit showcased the impressive visual arts collection of women artists from the MC Museum–Gallery of Women’s Art (GAWA), the first art museum of its kind in the Philippines.
It was launched during the National Teacher’s Conference 2018 on September 10, 2018 and was graced by Dr. Maria Lourdes Quisumbing Baybay, vice president for Academic Affairs.
Joseph Richard C. Renta III served as curator for the artworks from MC Museum - GAWA for the GSIS exhibit.
The formal opening of the exhibit was held on September 13, 2018, with College of Arts and Sciences Dean, Dr. Margarita Acosta, reading the message on behalf of Miriam College President Dr. Rosario Lapus who could not make it to the event.
Students and professors of the Higher Education Unit as well as the International Partnership and Programs Office Head, Dr. Gail Galang, also attended the affair. Special guest artist Prof. Brenda Fajardo applauded the efforts of Miriam College in advocating for women’s art by setting up a venue for them and coming up with creative programs to further promote this cause.
The exhibit is free and open to the public and will run until November 5, 2018. The GSIS Museo ng Sining is located at the Ground Level of the GSIS Building Complex at Pasay City.
