Mel Reyes, faculty of the Department of International Studies (IS), participated in the 14th Ewha Global Empowerment Program (EGEP) held from January 6 to 13, 2019 at Ewha Womans University, Seoul, South Korea.
The program was organized to consolidate the impact and achievements of EGEP network for the past seven years where it conducted 13 batches of EGEP seminar. Other participating countries include India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Palestine.
Carrying the theme “Transnational Feminisms and Women Activism: Strategies for Engagement and Empowerment”, Reyes presented four cases of good practices on gender equality in the Philippines along the areas of education, engagement, empowerment, and advocacy.
Ewha Womans University, thru its Asian Center for Women’s Studies (ACWS), is entering into a new phase with a more focused vision for women’s empowerment and education in Asia and Reyes is part of its collaborative network.
Apart from her work in the Department of IS, Reyes is also the Gender and Development Program Head of the Women and Gender Institute of Miriam College.
