Biography

Dr. Gail R. Galang finished her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the Ateneo de Manila University in 1991. She continued her MA studies in Counseling Psychology at the same university, writing her thesis about academically gifted children then.

While serving Miriam College in various administrative capacities since year 2000, she completed her doctorate studies in the same college, this time specializing in Child and Family Studies with a dissertation about blended families.

After her term as Principal of the Miriam College Grade School, she also served as the Head of the Institutional Partnerships and Programs Office handling local and international linkages.

Using her expertise in Psychology and Education, Dr. Galang has been among the Center for Peace Educations’s most active partners in bringing forward the Center’s mission of cultivating a culture of peace within the school and the larger community. This commitment is also demonstrated in her personal advocacies related to peace-building such as reaching out to Lumad brothers and sisters, creating awareness and encouraging support for them through the Maryknoll/Miriam College Alumni Association (MMCAA) where she serves as one of its Board Members.

Dr. Galang is currently the Chair of the Family Studies program. She also teaches undergraduate and graduate courses under the Department of Psychology. Her areas of specialization include Child and Adolescent Psychology and Family Psychology.
