The Miriam College-Women and Gender Institute (WAGI) conducted a gender sensitivity training for faculty and administrators of the City College of Angeles (CCOA) on July 24, 2018 in Angeles, Pampanga.
The training, entitled “Cascading Gender Empowerment in the Higher Education Classroom,” aimed to strengthen the natural capability of CCOA administrators, faculty, and staff through professional development. Specifically, the training aimed to update them with the latest trends in key areas of higher education, particularly in gender and gender fair education. They are also expected to integrate what they have learned in the academic year 2018-2019 to be able to deliver quality instruction and services to their students.
WAGI presented the basic concepts in gender and development, the gender-fair curriculum, and the gender-fair education model. WAGI also presented a gender analysis, which looked into the gender programs of the CCOA.
The WAGI Team is composed of Prof. Aurora de Dios, senior project director; Stella Fong, Gender Fair Education coordinator; and Brenda Pureza, research assistant.
