Advocacy Centers

We aim to make a contribution to our country and our society by striving to build a culture of peace, uphold gender equality, save the environment, empower the poor, train more competent teachers, and advocate lifelong education through our advocacy centers. Center for Peace Education

The Center’s mission is to help advance a culture of peace through education.  A culture of peace is a set of values, modes of behavior and ways of life that reflects respect for life and for human dignity, rejects violence in all its forms, prevents violent conflicts by tackling their root causes, and recognizes the importance of cooperation, tolerance and dialogue.

Environmental Studies Institute

The Environmental Studies Institute (ESI) is a pioneer in academic offerings as well as in school-based advocay. Its program is a synthesis of academic expertise, field projects, and service learning. As it implements the third thrust in the school's motto, Peace, Justice, and Integrity of Creation, the ESI catalyzes the Mriam Community in spreading to the larger society what it promotes in its campus-care for the Earth.

Women and Gender Institute

The Women and Gender Institute is Miriam College’s center for research, training and advocacy on women’s rights, gender equality and non-sexist learning in support of the leadership of young women and students. It offers a cross-disciplinal perspective on women’s empowerment that is interlinked with democracy, human rights, social justice and value formation. WAGÎ forges links with other sectors, organizations and institutions at the national, regional and international levels.
