The Center for Peace Education (CPE) of Miriam College, in cooperation with the UNI Harmony Partners-Manila, organized two important events to mark and celebrate the World Interfaith Harmony Week on February 4 to 6, 2019.
The first was a Public Forum on “Celebrating Truth and Reconciliation” where the main speaker was Atty. Maisara Dandamun-Latiph, one of the Commissioners of the Expanded Bangsamoro Transition Commission that drafted the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), and now a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority. The latter will run the new Bangsamoro Territory. She is also an advocate of peace education in the Bangsamoro and actively promoted the BOL by going around Mindanao to educate the people about its provisions.
This was followed by a two-day Interfaith Peacebuilding Workshop for Christian and Muslim Youth. The participants were students of twin schools, the Rajah Muda High School of Pikit, North Cotabato and the Miriam College High School and Middle School. Among their session topics were: Conflict Resolution Mini-workshop, Youth Peacebuilding Tools, Sharing of Past Year’s Peace Clubs’ Activities, and Planning of Future Activities.
On February 6, 2019 the RMHS guests had a field trip to historical sites in Old Manila and to the National Museum.
