On June 11, 13 and 14, 2019; the Miriam College Center for Peace Education conducted a half-day training for a total of approximately 300 faculty members of the Child Study Center, Lower School, Middle School, and High School units. The training covered the topics of defining peace, peace education, challenging bullying, restorative discipline, and conflict resolution. Facilitators Ms. Sophia Garcia, Dr. Gail Galang, Ms. Kristine Lesaca-Saludez, and Ms. Bianca Pabotoy used an interactive approach that allowed participants to review the definition of peace and their important role in building a culture of peace not just within the classroom, but also beyond the Miriam College community. Participants also had the opportunity to apply the different ways of resolving and mediating conflict which they may use in their classes. Overall, the goals of the training were met, which were to help the faculty understand the topics presented as well as encourage them to integrate these concepts in their teaching methods.
