Peace Week and Catholic Nonviolence Days of Action 2021

In celebration of the annual Peace Week and Catholic Nonviolence Days of Action, the Center for Peace Education (CPE) in coordination with the Peace Champs of Miriam College Quezon City, and Miriam College Nuvali planned peace activities for both MC students and their parents. Throughout the 2-week celebration, prayers and integration of peace themes in lessons by means of storytelling, videos, reflection-essays, paper crane-making, drawing and peace playlists, among others, were organized by teachers in the various units. CPE also held a Mass for Nonviolence and Just Peace last October 1 with the Higher Education Unit Campus Ministry Office (HEU-CMO).

The Center for Peace Education, in partnership with Peace Boat and Pax Christi Pilipinas, organized a Testimony Session with a Hibakusha, Ms. Koko Kondo, titled: “Every second counts for the survivor!” on 23 August 2021 in commemoration of the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Tragedy.

Mindanao Solidarity Week Forum – Bangsamoro Transition and Marawi Rehab: Where Are We Now?

In celebration of the Mindanao Solidarity Week (MSW), the Center for Peace Education (CPE) in partnership with Pax Christi Pilipinas and Pax Christi Miriam College organized the forum “Bangsamoro Transition and Marawi Rehab: Where Are We Now?” on November 10, 2020. Featuring our guest speaker Atty. Maisara Damdamun-Latiph, member of the Bangsamoro Parliament, the event was attended by over 60 members of the Miriam College community and guests.

In celebration of this year’s International Day of Peace and Catholic Nonviolence Days of Action, the Center for Peace Education (CPE) organized a series of activities highlighting the themes: "Making Nonviolence our Way of Life" and "Shaping Peace Together", which are the themes of the Catholic Nonviolence Initiative and the United Nations, respectively.

Miriam College-Center for Peace Education (CPE), with support from the Royal Norwegian Embassy Manila, premiered a full-length documentary "Alab ng Kapayapaan (Sparks of Peace): Women Peacekeepers in the Philippines”, celebrating the 20th anniversary since the adoption of the UNSCR 1325: Women, Peace and Security Agenda, and the 10th year since the launch of the Philippines' National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security (PNAP on WPS).

Launched last 13 December 2019 at Discovery Suites, the publication and manual documents the Women’s Agency in Keeping the Peace, Promoting Security, a localization initiative of CPE supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Manila.
