Early Childhood Education

The Master of Education in Early Childhood Education is a professional graduate degree program that prepares students to be dynamic, empathic and innovative teacher leaders.  Students gain a deeper understanding of children (birth to 8) through research, reflection, theory and pedagogy.

The graduates are prepared to be early childhood teacher leaders, specialists/ consultants, and curriculum/instructional designers both in formal and informal settings, who will make impactful transformations in the field of early childhood education.

  • Develop dispositions that will make students highly effective teacher leaders in the field of early childhood education

What Will I Study?

Below are some of the topics and core courses that you will take:

This course enhances your skills in analyzing curriculum designs and curriculum development models.
This course provides opportunities for you to analyze instructional theories, instructional design models, and instructional approaches.
This course is an advanced study of instructional theories, approaches, and methods. It serves as a good foundation for you to be able to design instructional materials appropriate for young learners.
This course trains you to survey and analyze assessment and evaluation tools appropriate for early childhood education.
This course provides you with opportunities to do benchmarking in early childhood education schools abroad or locally. You are given an option to do a field study in schools within the Asian region, partner schools in the US or UK, or schools in the Philippines. You will do a comparative analysis of early childhood education systems and programs in the different countries.
Relevant and updated topics, problems, and research trends in ECE are the main highlights of this course.
This course engages you in a critical survey of methods in educational research and data analysis techniques appropriate for teacher research, setting of research directions and identification of research ideas in education.

This program is implemented using a modular delivery mode.

  • The Special Project is practice-based and is accomplished as the student takes the different specialization courses. The student will be assigned to a mentor and an adviser (content and process specialists) who will closely supervise the process of project-making and writing of the paper.
  • Students who are not currently teaching will be immersed in partner schools or early childhood centers.
