OFFICE ASSISTANT | Higher Education Unit

The Library Media Center of the Higher Education Unit (HEU-LMC) seeks an Office Assistant.  

The Office Assistant reports directly to the LMC Supervisor.  The duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Encode resource information in the Library automation database.
  • Assist and guide library users with their inquiries utilizing of Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) and other library retrieval devices
  • Assist in the following services:
    1. Processing of newly acquired books, shelf reading & inventory of library supplies and other reading materials
    2. Reservation of discussion rooms
    3. Locker Area
    4. Issuance of library clearance
  • Relieve and assist in the service areas during break time and peak hours  
  • Handle requests for office supplies, maintenance and repair of furniture and equipment
  • Safekeep library records and reports
  • Coordinate with the Information and Communication Technology Office (ICTO) regarding computer needs and requests
  • Prepare reports, statistics, and handles correspondence for donated books
  • Perform other duties as maybe assigned by the supervisor for the smooth operation of the LMC

SYSTEM PROGRAMMERS | ICTO

The Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO) is in need of System Programmers.
 
The System Programmers develop software applications and content-managed web sites to support the school’s software application needs, and communication goals and objectives.  The Software Programmers develop software programs and codes/scripts of application software in accordance with client/server-based application development methodology for the school, and maintain institutional software applications and provide software development support for all in-house, packaged, and outsourced-developed computerized systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop software applications and web-based internet and intranet sites of the school
  • Debug, fix, maintain, troubleshoot, and refine programs developed based on testing results
  • Write new program code, updates, and revisions using prescribed and approved specifications based on approved system requests (SR), utilizing the appropriate hardware, database, and programming technologies
  • Develop interface programs for various application software and databases in the school
  • Conduct user training of application systems
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned

The candidates should have completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Computer Engineering courses with minimum three (3) years experience in software and web development, programming methodologies, design, and implementation.  
 
Candidates should be knowledgeable in the use of ASP.net, C#, Java, HTML, PHP, SQL, XML, Crystal reports, relational databases and internet architectures, with strong object-oriented/based programming skills, high level of analytical and software design skills for software and web development and technical specifications.

The counselor must have a Professional Regulatory Commission license in Guidance and Counseling.  She should have at least units in MA in Guidance and Counseling upon entry.  Counselor licensure is a requirement for permanency.

Job Description

  1. Develop and implement a program of activities relevant and appropriate for students in her level. 
  2. Gather, record, and safeguard individual student files.
  3. Conduct orientation for new students.
  4. Conduct quarterly guidance classes in her level.
  5. Present the batch profile to teachers in her level within the first quarter of the school year
  6. Assist the Guidance Supervisor and Psychometrician in administering, scoring and interpreting student admissions tests and teacher applicants’ tests
  7. Conduct routine interview to all students and follow up students with priority concerns and who need counseling.
  8. Arrange conferences with the parents or guardians, teachers, and specialists when necessary.
  9. Refer students who need special help to outside agencies, and coordinate with specialists regarding the student’s progress.
  10. Conduct relevant researches and share findings with the community.
  11. Keep abreast with the latest trends in guidance and counseling through readings, further study, and attendance in seminars and workshops.
  12. Participate in faculty meetings, grade level meetings, Guidance area meetings, and in unit and institutional activities.
  13. Assist in the student services evaluation.
  14. Prepare student recommendation letters.
  15. Plan and implement special programs in her level.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the planning and coordination of internal and external affairs of the Unit/Office Head
  2. Undertake research work for the Unit/Office head paper, speeches and studies; drafts correspondence, speeches, letters, outlines, etc.
  3. Keep an organized file of documents and reference materials for her external involvements
  4. Maintain a running record of committee tasks and concerns
  5. Collate, synthesize, and research information for worksheets and briefing materials used in committee meetings
  6. Prepare minutes of meetings as directed by the Unit/Office head
  7. Collate and submits periodic reports of strategic plans, action plans and accomplishment reports of the unit or office
  8. Coordinate meetings and activities of the Unit/Office head with other organizations
  9. Assist in preparation of presentations of the Unit/Office head
  10. Prepare, collate, and monitor budget of the unit/office

The candidate should have extensive experience in research and technical writing, be familiar with the academic system, can perform basic finance and budgeting tasks, and must be proficient in computer applications (Powerpoint, Excel, etc.)  A Master’s Degree in Business or Education related field is an advantage.
