LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER SUPERVISOR | Higher Education Unit

The Higher Education Unit (HEU) Library Media Center (LMC) seeks an LMC Supervisor.  The LMC Supervisor ensures the development, administration, evaluation and implementation of the instructional resources and related media program of the LMC and reports directly to the Academic Support and Student Services Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan for the development of library resources and services to include reading and audio-visual (AV) materials.
  • Formulate, implement, and evaluate library policies and rules to support the teaching-learning needs by maintaining close relationships with administrators, faculty members, students, and other members of the Miriam College Community in coordination with other unit libraries.
  • Plan and implement the unit’s media program policies on proper administration and maintenance of software and hardware collection and services.
  • Direct the operations of the Higher Education LMC and supervise the work of the professional librarians, and library and audio-visual support staff. 
  • Prepare annual reports, memoranda, studies and collection analysis, conduct surveys, and evaluates the LMC services.
  • Act as Chairperson of the Library Committee and keep track with national library developments by attending and participating in conferences, workshops, and seminars, and by reading professional literature
  • Coordinate the selection, and distribution of materials and equipment. 
  • Oversee the improvement and development of the LMC’s resources and physical facilities.
  • Supervise the annual inventory of LMC materials and equipment.
  • Prepare the Library Media Center budget.

The candidate should be a licensed Librarian with Master’s Degree in Library Science and at least five (5) years supervisory experience in all areas of  library and media services. Candidate should be competent in the use of technology-based resources, proficient in oral and written communication, and exhibits innovative, proactive, and positive people and leadership skills.

The Campus Ministry Office of the Higher Education Unit seeks an Office Assistant.  

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Perform general clerical functions for the HEU Campus Ministry Office.
  2. Maintain files and correspondences.
  3. Assist in the preparation of recollections, retreats, and other activities of MISMO within and outside the school.
  4. Work with the CMO coordinator, liturgical assistant and student volunteers on the preparation of daily masses and special liturgical services.
  5. Encode minutes, reports, and evaluation entries from recollections and retreats.
  6. Prepare expense reports, liquidation papers, cheque requests, petty cash advances and reimbursements.

  10. Assist in the monitoring office expenses.

OFFICE ASSISTANT | Higher Education Unit

The Library Media Center of the Higher Education Unit (HEU-LMC) seeks an Office Assistant.  

The Office Assistant reports directly to the LMC Supervisor.  The duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Encode resource information in the Library automation database.
  • Assist and guide library users with their inquiries utilizing of Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) and other library retrieval devices
  • Assist in the following services:
    1. Processing of newly acquired books, shelf reading & inventory of library supplies and other reading materials
    2. Reservation of discussion rooms
    3. Locker Area
    4. Issuance of library clearance
  • Relieve and assist in the service areas during break time and peak hours

SYSTEM PROGRAMMERS | ICTO

The Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO) is in need of System Programmers.
 
The System Programmers develop software applications and content-managed web sites to support the school’s software application needs, and communication goals and objectives.  The Software Programmers develop software programs and codes/scripts of application software in accordance with client/server-based application development methodology for the school, and maintain institutional software applications and provide software development support for all in-house, packaged, and outsourced-developed computerized systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop software applications and web-based internet and intranet sites of the school
  • Debug, fix, maintain, troubleshoot, and refine programs developed based on testing results
  • Write new program code, updates, and revisions using prescribed and approved specifications based on approved system requests (SR), utilizing the appropriate hardware, database, and programming technologies
  • Develop interface programs for various application software and databases in the school
  • Conduct user training of application systems
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned

The candidates should have completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Computer Engineering courses with minimum three (3) years experience in software and web development, programming methodologies, design, and implementation.  
 
Candidates should be knowledgeable in the use of ASP.net, C#, Java, HTML, PHP, SQL, XML, Crystal reports, relational databases and internet architectures, with strong object-oriented/based programming skills, high level of analytical and software design skills for software and web development and technical specifications.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the planning and coordination of internal and external affairs of the Unit/Office Head
  2. Undertake research work for the Unit/Office head paper, speeches and studies; drafts correspondence, speeches, letters, outlines, etc.
