The Middle School Chorus recently bagged two silver awards in the Equal Voices-Junior and Folksong categories at the 10th Orientale Concentus International Choral Festival in Singapore. The 28-piece MS Chorus is under the baton of Sinamar Respicio and auspices of Jhames Labrador, MS Music Area supervisor and MS Chrous artistic director. Assistant Principal for Student Affairs Maria Coney Pallones was also there to chaperone the participants.

The group also participated in masterclasses facilitated by the festival adjudicators namely Mark Carpio (Philippine Madrigal Singers), Paul Phoenix (England), and Stojan Kuret (Slovenia). Completing the line-up of adjudicators are Maestro Jae-Joon Lee (South Korea) and Toh Ban Sheng (Singapore and Orientale Concentus artistic director).

The festival was held from July 7-10, 2017 at the School of the Arts (SOTA) in Singapore which showcased 36 choirs from 12 different countries with over a thousand participants competing in 13 categories. The Grand Prix and awarding ceremony was held at the Esplanade Concert Hall.

Orientale Concentus was conceptualized in 2008 and aims to promote international arts and cultural exchange, and develop youth choral music.
