Miriam College closed the celebration of its 90th anniversary with an institutional outing titled Bongga Sa Nubenta. It was held at Canyon Cove resort in Nasugbu, Batangas last May 30-31. More than 600 employees joined the Human Resources Division-led activity, a first for the school.
The festive event started with a morning program that was highlighted by a symbolic sharing of the community’s hopes and best memories of the school on color coded Post Its. These messages were posted on a wall forming the number 90 in blue and gold. In between ceremonies were dance numbers from Sole to Soul that set the mood for the two-day beach outing.
In her message, Dr. Lapus thanked everyone for being part of the success that is Miriam College. “Hindi maaabot ng Miriam College ang 90 years kundi dahil sa inyo... Tayo ang nagbibigay edukasyon na humuhubog sa ating mga estudyante. Ito ang tatak Miriam College! Tunay ngang tayo ay Mighty at 90!”
The program ended with a video presentation that showed the different events and activities that were held to celebrate the school’s 90th year, starting with the launch of the Henry Sy, Sr. Innovation Center in September 2016. The same event also marked the opening of the 90th anniversary celebrations.
The MC community made the most out of the beach outing by joining different water activities such as kayaking, banana boat ride, and water inflatable games. Others basked in the sun, enjoying the warm waters of the beach and the pool. Dinner was set by the beach where a mini program was staged. Entertaining the community were homegrown talents from the different units. The program lasted into the night with everyone dancing, singing, and, more importantly, bonding with each other. Bongga Sa Nubenta was a fitting end to a great anniversary year that was.
