Dr. Francis Julius Evangelista of the College of Arts and Sciences successfully completed an intensive course on Higher Education Leadership Development at the Harvard Institutes for Higher Education (HIHE) in Harvard University, USA, last July 10-28. 
 
Part of the 2017-2018 Fellowship Program sponsored by the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UBCHEA), the course under the HIHE Summer Institute Program covered various topics on leadership such as Professional Development, Performance Assessment, Team Effectiveness, Financial Management, Institutional Advancement, Intercultural Communication and Internationalization of Higher Education. The sessions employed Harvard’s highly interactive case study method of instruction to develop in the participants’ vital skills, ideas, and perspectives in dealing with leadership and management issues.

Dr. Evangelista took the course together with 19 other UBCHEA Fellows representing eight Asian countries. Aside from the UBCHEA grant, he also received support from the Commission on Higher Education through its Professional Advancement Grant.

The next phase of his Fellowship Program is a three-month Asia placement in Sophia University in Tokyo as a visiting scholar to start in September.
