Sayawatha declared champions in Crissa Dance Synergy 13 and WNCAA Hip Hop competition

The Miriam College High School Sayawatha Dance Troupe was declared Champions in not one but two major dance events—the Crissa Dance Synergy 13 and the first ever Women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA) Hip Hop dance competition. The Crissa event was held on November 11, 2018 and the WNCAA was held on November 18, 2018 during its 49th Season.

Sayawatha emerged as Champions among 14 teams during the finals of the Crissa Dance Synergy 13.  The judges of both CRISSA Dance Synergy and WNCAA Hip Hop Division are professional Filipino dancers known and respected in the dance community.

For its performances, Sayawatha reintroduced “waacking” (also whacking), a 70s disco era dance step that typically moves the arms over and behind the shoulders.  The coach also specifically chose a 70s Filipino music to go with other femme style dance moves to ensure a stronger and more memorable performance this year.

Sayawatha will soon be competing at the World of Dance Philippines, National Dance Competition, and Hip Hop International Philippines.
