Mexican Embassy in the PHL celebrates Dia de Los Muertos with face paint, exhibit | GMA News Network

The Mexican Embassy in the Philippines is celebrating Dia de Los Muertos with an exhibit of traditional Mexican ofrenda at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila.

Mexico celebrates Dia de Los Muertos (more properly Dia de Muertos, or Day of the Dead) on the first of November, coinciding with All Saints' Day.

One of its most prominent features is the ofrenda, a collection of objects put on display in honor of people who have passed on.

At the launch of the exhibit, many visitors showed up with another important part of the day's celebration: elaborate skeletal face makeup, amid sugar skulls and skeleton imagery.

The exhibit, designed by faculty and students of Miriam College, has added a Pinoy touch to the festivities, dedicating an ofrenda to national Filipino heroes such as Bonifacio and Rizal.

The exhibit runs from November 6 until November 17, 2019 at the National Museum of the Philippines' National Museum of Fine Arts.
