On November 23, 2019, our team of 4th year and 3rd year BA Communication (BACOM) students bagged the 2nd Runner Up award at the Philippine Association of National Advertisers Foundation (PANAF) PANAnaw Awards 2019, the PANAF Brand Communications Students Competition. This is an annual competition where the representatives from different colleges and universities nationwide are given the opportunity to conceptualize, design and present a brand communications plan worth using for an actual marketing campaign.
For this year’s competition, teams came up with a brand communications plan for “Tostas,” a product of the Republic Biscuit Corporation (REBISCO). Competing teams are given no more than 3 months to come up with a brand communications plan. After an elimination round, a panel assembled by PANAF identified the top 5 teams with the best plan who will pitch their idea at the final round of the PANAnaw Awards. Our students’ pitched their winning plan called “Go-Two Tostas,” at the Mother Rose Auditorium of Assumption College in Makati City.
Our team was led by 4th year BACOM students Lourda Lumain and Evangeline Metzger. The official seven-member team that represented our school made up of 4th year BACOM students, Joelle Jimenez, Xenia Marable, Alexis Quijano, and 3rd year students, Pamela Robles and Michelle Gador. Their team adviser is Ms. Paula De Asis, MBA. Throughout the competition, the students also had full support from the Department of Communication and College of Arts and Sciences.
This is the second time the team of Miriam College BA Communication students placed in the top 3 of the PANAnaw Awards. In 2018, our students placed 8th place. Prior to that, in 2017, our students won 2nd runner up as well.
