Miriam College High School students bagged a total of 117 medals and merit awards from the 2019 World Scholar’s Cup Tournament of Champions. It was held on November 6-13, 2019 at Yale University, Connecticut, USA.
They bagged 23 gold medals, 36 silver medals, and 58 merit awards from individual and group academic competitions like debate, writing, and quiz. The High School scholars for this year include Sarah Tatiana Alampay, Alyssa Francesca Alarilla, Samantha Centeno, Alyanna Therese De Leon, Benita Teresin Flores, Regina Maria Jaramillo, Illyssa Juliana Kong, Maria Charmane Rose Naciongayo, Julia Angelene Perez, Stephanie Nicole Salonga, Gabrielle Vernice Filan Tango, Mary Jennycis Tinio, and Astrud Ulili. In addition, Kristen Mariel Dioko and Riana Nicole Valdez from the Middle School joined the delegation in the Senior’s Open Division Category.
The competition covers six curriculums which include Special Area, Social Studies, History, Science and Technology, Arts and Music, and Literature. All subjects focused on this season’s theme, ‘A World on the Margins’. This season, there are 60 countries from around world which competed in this prestigious event.
The MC scholars are the few qualifiers from the 6th Global Rounds of the World Scholars Cup this season. Since 2014, Miriam College students have been recognized as top scholars.
