On November 20, 2020, the team of 4th year BS Business Administration students earned Third Place in the Solbridge International Business Plan Competition 2020. The competition is an annual event held by Solbridge University, in which undergraduates around the world are given real-life case scenarios and are expected to make in-depth recommendations through a business plan in two days for the preliminary round. They were asked to do a Samsung case study on voice assistants and incorporate it to their choice of industry.
The competition started with an opening ceremony last November 16, which included 16 teams from different countries. These countries include India, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Hungary, China, Mongolia, United Kingdom, Kenya, Vietnam, Finland, Belarus, 3 teams from South Korea, and the Philippines. The Miriam College team proposed a voice assistant designed to be integrated into hospitals through the “BixbyLifeline”, a voice assistant that will make hospitals more efficient and increase their immediate response. The team chose this industry as it is a timely and urgent response to the Health Industry problem that needs to be addressed globally.
Fortunately, team Philippines advanced to the final 8 with China, two groups from South Korea, Thailand, Finland, Hungary, and India. After a live presentation with Q&A, Team Philippines got the 3rd Place, Solbridge Beta from South Korea on the 2nd Place, with Team Thailand on the 1st Place. The team was also delighted for Thailand as one of our MCHS Alumna, Czerina Flores from Pink Batch 2018, was part of the team.
Team Philippines was represented by Trisiah Angela V. Atienza, Eunice Grace M. Baylon, Crisha Marie Q. Enriquez, and Lara Therese R. Veloso from BS Business Administration major in Marketing with their department chair and mentor, Ms. Mildred Sevilla.
