Last December 6-8, 2023, faculty members from the Department of International Studies played a pivotal role in orchestrating a training session titled "Refining International Communications Expertise: A Training on Diplomacy, Social Protocols, and Business Etiquettes for DILG Executives." The event unfolded at Hotel Lucky Chinatown in Manila.
The comprehensive modules covered a range of topics, including Introduction to Diplomatic Protocols, Gender and Cultural Sensitivity, Gender Fair Communication in International Engagements, Conflict Resolution and Management, Protocols and Etiquettes, and Organizing International Meetings and Events Using Rules of Protocols. Distinguished speakers and facilitators comprised Ambassador Laura Q. Del Rosario, Miriam College's President, and IS faculty led by Dr. Melanie Reyes, Dr. Jasmin Galace, Ms. Jona Villasante, Ms. Stella Fong, Ms. Mirma Tica-Ortiz, and Mr. Aron Garchitorena.
To enhance the practical learning experience, the event concluded with a simulation for a diplomatic dinner, guided by the expertise of Ambassador Del Rosario.
Jointly organized by the Local Government Academy (LGA) and Miriam College-Women and Gender Institute, the training was participated by DILG Regional Directors and Assistant Directors.
