Biography

Dr. Matias is a fulltime faculty of the high school mathematics department and a part time faculty of the Psychology Department of Miriam College. She graduated from UP Diliman with a degree in Secondary Education (major in math, minor in Physics), MA in Mathematics, and Ph.D. in Mathematics Education. She has been with Miriam for 15 years. Prior to that, she taught for five years in California, USA. She is an active national trainer for General Mathematics in Senior High School of the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) and a Research Associate of the Center for Strategic Research.

Although she is primarily a teacher, she has also been largely involved in teacher training and workshop facilitation. She is a former teacher in West Contra Costa Unified School District and Fontana School District in California, and Ateneo de Manila High School. Her research interests include Math Education and Math Anxiety.
