Dr. Ma. Margarita Alvina-Acosta has been part of the Department of Communication for more than 25 years. Her gentle yet commanding nature endears her to students, alumna, and faculty. She has expanded the network of the department as well for her active participation in the Asian Media and Information Center (AMIC), Philippines Communication Society (PCS), and Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE). Her duties in the said organizations have helped expose the students and faculty in various communication conferences and seminars that contribute to their knowledge and growth as scholars, mentors, and practitioners.

She handles Introduction to Communication, Gender and Communication, and Effective Presentation and Multimedia Techniques courses in the undergraduate program and teaches the Multi-media and the Filipino Family course in the graduate (Ph.D.) program for Family Studies.
