Malou Chavez has been a practicing counselor for the past 26 years. She is a licensed guidance counselor, licensed psychologist, certified developmental psychologist, faculty at the special graduate program of the College of Education, counselor educator, facilitator, and an encaustic artist.

She took her MA in Family Psychology and Education and her academic requirements for PhD in Counseling from Miriam College.

She is currently a steering committee member of the International Federation of Psychotherapists and Counsellors, life member of the Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association, Inc. (PGCA), and life member of the Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA).

She was Past Vice President of PGCA, Past Co-Chair of the Counseling Division of PAP (Psychological Association of the Philippines), and was given a plaque of recognition by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for being nominated to the Outstanding Professional of the Year Award in 2015.

She has a Certificate of Proficiency in Clinical/Professional Counselling Supervision from the Regional Human Skills, a Joint Program of the Australian Counselling Association and Association of Psychotherapists and Counselors – Singapore.
